Ok, so I've deleted & reloaded minecraft... deleted & reloaded the launcher and reloaded minecraft... and I still get this. There are no mods, no other texture/resource packs, no nothin' but vanilla in the .minecraft folder; it's all fresh.
Is this related to that April Fool's "joke" that I'm still not laughing about? Has anyone else had this problem?
The only thing I've done lately is update my video drivers... yet after that, my forge profile was ok. This only happened when I tried to play 1.7.9 or the latest snapshot.

That I did... but on all of the multitudinous settings, I get this weird visual. It's not that. Also, I get it even after having wiped everything & reloaded fresh.
I'm fixin' to switch over later tonight to my 32bit install (on which I haven't updated the drivers) and see if the new snapshot still does this. That'll confirm it for sure. I do remember, however, trying out MC with the new drivers right after I updated & being mildly disappointed that my framerate didn't appreciably increase. Something in the latest versions (1.7.9 / Snapshots) is doing this, I think, but probably only with this particular driver version, or there'd be a lot more caterwauling on the forum... couldn't find anyone else with this issue. Yeah, yeah, I know IntelHD on-board graphics suck, but you play the (graphics) cards you're dealt.
I updated in the first place because a game I was trying out *specifically* had problems with Intel laptop drivers, and updating them actually did fix the problem.
Prolly won't be on again for a few hours, but I'll update this post with the results of my experiment
looking at the dxdiag the drivers you have are the latest intel ones (i asked because alot of people use windows update and get stuck with microsoft drivers not manufactures ones)

Yeah, I used to do IT. Went and got the drivers manually so I was sure to have the latest ones.
Well, the 32-bit windows install loaded up 1.7.9 and ran it fine. Normal default textures. Sooooo.... this has to be something that Mojang updated that doesn't like the latest-and-greatest IntelHD drivers. Sigh.
When I have time, I'll post it to their bug list. Unless someone knows of an existing fix? (he asked... expecting the answer no...)

What's more, how do I fix this?

Crosses fingers.... aaaand.....
Awesome! Thanks! Now to check out these new custom world thingies in the snapshot!
Edit: Everything looks normal now EXCEPT... water surface now looks white/very light gray. Meh. I can live with it.
