I have an issue that started right after 1.7.9 came out. I have reverted back to 1.7.5 and the issue remained, now, so I went back to loading 1.7.9.
There are a couple places in my map where the structures disappeared and there are giant holes in the space. When I try to place new blocks they dissappear. When I walk into the area of the hole I start to fall but when half way down it suddenly zaps me back to the start of the fall and I am stuck in a looping fall. Also there is severe lag and redstone mechanisms seem to take forever or longer to work. Also, I logged out of the map and reloaded it and suddenly there are several hundred chickens in a spot that had none a moment before.
We're only about 6 weeks into our Minecraft experience and this is the first real issue we've encountered. What should I do with it?
It sounds like your world is corrupt, so you can try to repair it with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit.
