I had to make an account just to ask this because I am so upset. x.x
So, I was joyfully playing Minecraft on my favorite world I recently created [about a few days to a week ago], I did the usual, nothing out of the ordinary.
I saved it and exited it.
Then later, I come back on, and it's gone - Disappeared.
I am certain that I didn't delete it.
I looked through my files, and it wasn't there either.
This also happened to my best friend - The same exact thing.
Is this a major glitch or something?
And is there ANY way to get it back?
Note: I have done a lot of research, found nothing, and I have a windows 8 laptop.

Do any of you make backups?
Right click the .minecraft folder and click the previous version tab. If there is a previous version, you are saved! Restore it. If you are unsuccessful, get a shadow utility like Shadow Explorer.
Remember, none of these solutions are an excuse from making backups!
If this happens again, you might need to find the source.
Good Luck!
