Please help! I purchased Minecraft for my son's 6th birthday, and now I can't get it to work. I realized i have no save option after the dialog box opens; I can only run or cancel. The launcher just does the white screen thing, then brings me to the launcher/update page (I think?)
I've updated Java (I think). I'm using an Acer netbook from about 5 years ago...I'm sorry I'm so clueless, but I've been at this for two hours and my son literally cried when I couldn't get it to work. Hoping to save his birthday : /
I appreciate your response...however, i called gamestop, and it seems i have downloaded the launcher correctly. I just can't figure out how to get the thing to play! i'm hoping it's something obvious and that I'm an idiot. I get to the screen that has the update notes, development console, etc. But how do I get it to START??
If you get to the multi-tab display of the launcher, don't you have a big "Play" button at the bottom?
If not, then cut and paste the contents from the Development Console tab into a post here.
Mine for example has this when everything is working correctly:

There is a big play button on the bottom. You can also try sending us a screenshot of your launcher. You can do that by clicking "Print screen" button on your keyboard. Then paste it into paint and save it. Then you can upload it to dropbox or anything and give us the link for the download.
