I updated my Inspiron 530 to Windows 8.1, 32bit (fresh install), installed Java 1.7.0_51, downloaded minecraft, started the launcher, and logged in. The minecraft launcher lets me log in, but when I click the play button, it crashes with the report "org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Pixel format not accelerated"

I tried updating the drivers for my graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO)
using the indicated links (both the auto-detector and the manual link), but all attempts led to it saying that I already have the latest driver. I tried this several times, but Minecraft still gives the same error. I've also tried turning Java security down to minimum and rebooting, all to no avail.
I know that my hardware can run Minecraft, because it did before I updated from Windows Vista to Windows 8.1.
