I had 2 issues that I've fixed so I thought I'd post it here:
Issues:
1. "Scanning for games on local network" - I was never able to see the games hosted on the local network. Everyone else in my family was able to though. Also, they were unable to see the games that I would host. If we used 'Direct Connect' and entered the computername:Port we were able to connect though.
2. "Outdated server pretending to be 1.7.7 or 1.7.8" - With the latest versions of minecraft I would get this error when connecting to a local game using the IP address. I would then be disconnected
OS: Windows 7
Fix:
Start->Control Panel->Network and Sharing Center->Change adapter settings (Lefthand side)->Right click 'Local Area Connection Properties'->Uncheck "VMware Bridge Protocol" and "VirtualBox Bridged Network Driver"
That fixed both issues?
I can understand the first problem. Although I thought that Mojang had fixed that issue of virtual network interfaces. Must be a regression.
But I don't understand why anything would cause problem 2 other than an actual version mismatch.
