i purchased a used XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT from my friend recently after looking really far into it to make sure it would work right with my computer and it works unbelievably great on pretty muxh all of my games. Even minecraft i can switch on all the bells and whistles(whatever that phrase is lol), and it still runs at what I see as a more-than-acceptable framerate. My only problem is that when I move my mouse, which is a bluetooth mouse if knowledge need be, the framerate drops to what is effectively calculated by the f3 debug screen as 0.
my computer:
dell XPS 410 model (when can i get my next one please i hate dells D: unfortunately it is all i got right now)
Intel Core II Duo at 1.9 GHz (because Roman Numerals make it look better in a sense)
the stock 375 watt power supply that i cant replace because of dells bs about their custom motherboards and oddly shaped PSUs
7 GB of DDR2 ram
XFX GeForce 9800GT (replacing my PNY GeForce 210)
a dual hard drive setup (5400 RPM 250 GB each)
and a DVD rewritable bay
all my hardware totals about 361 watts on the Newegg PSU requirement calculator, even though the GPU reccomends 400 watts according to the NVIDIA website, and for my specific hardware setup, Newegg reccomends something below what I have (even if only 14 watts, and one of the items has a +25 watt recommendation from what I have)
I am thinking on taking the DVD bay out and maybe my other hard drive too, the calculator (you know which one by now) says it will go down to 299 watts if i do that. i'll give it a test run later to see if that does help the weird "mouse lagg" redefiner that i'm getting here but i kinda have some doubt placed on those hopes. Any suggestions other than "get a better PSU" or "try a non-bluetooth mouse" or " try dusting the GPU"(I did that earlier in hopes the problem was caused by heat-based slowdowns and hangs)that I can get? i have been underclocking with MSI Afterburner but that just seems to add a couple of lagg spikes here and there where it's not able to perform as high as before. please help

Life is great when viewed from some angles. - Life sucks when viewed from others. - Right now, everyone is viewing life at the sucky angles.
They have no reason to, but they do it anyway. - Some of these people commit suicide. - Some do genocide. - Some just feel the need to mercilessly rebel.
And in doing so, they become one of the sucky angles that life can be viewed from. - And then others see it, and it spreads to them. - Don't let it spread to you. - Just ignore it.
If enough people ignore it, it will go away, fade, and all will be good again.
I am having the same exact problem, but with a computer totally different from yours. My problem started when I deleted my 1.7.2 modded .minecraft folder and updated to 1.7.8. I have a Lenovo Yoga laptop that can barely hit 30fps on decent settings, so I think this might be a Minecraft bug and not an issue with your computer setup. I will try earlier versions to see if the problem persists. Are you running 1.7.8?
EDIT: 1.7.5 doesn't work either - which means that something weird is going on because I've run it with no problems before. However, while I was testing I noticed that the lag seemed to favour a direction, and sometimes there would be almost no lag turning in the opposite direction. Is this true for you?

this didn't happen when i had my GeForce 210 card in it. (not noticeably at least)

i just finished testing version 1.6.4 to see if the problem would be in an older minecraft and it is still there, but it isn't as bad as the basically 0 FPS i was getting in 1.7.
gonna try taking out the DVD drive and see if lowering the required wattage helps.

removing the dvd drive and/or underclocking didnt seem to work, i dont think it's as bad in 1.6, and overclocking seemed to have a *little* bit of some effect, but if it did it was so slight I couldn't tell if it was me or if it actually did something. good god it seems i sacrificed my minecraft gaming performance (mouse causing lagg but much better peformance than i used to have when still) for an insane difference in my other games. Even BeamNG runs pretty well.

i just completely cleaned out every last little part my tower of dust in hopes to improve overall system stability (i even took apart the PSU and soaked it (let it dry too) in a small tub of alcohol while holding it with long-handled pliers to get the dust out of it) and it runs with a ton less noise, but to no avail did it help with the lagg. havent slept much the last couple nights going to bed now peace

Update your drivers.
P.S. If you're gonna post multiple times in a row on a single thread, just add it as an edit. Otherwise, it's a very desperate display of bumping.

i have the drivers updated. it had mouse-induced framelagg with the initial installation (333.7) and i updated to the latest beta drivers (337.2 because i heard alot of things were going wong with the latest release drivers 335.4) and that did not seem to help. yes i was bumping desperately, don't take any offense on it i was adding updates to the status with the bumps. If we can find a solutoon to this maybe future victims will find a possible solution faster.
edit: i dont even know anymore. I half dont care and i feel desperate at the same time it's such a weird combination of emotion O_O.....
I havent tried reinstalling windows yet, though my windows 8 installation is almost sparkly new and the same exact problem occurs on that gnarly old windows 7 hard drive that i way overinstalled software to (did i mention i had somewhere between 100GB and 300GB of pure downloads on it before i cleaned up my secondary drive for my windows 8 install?). i dont think it's my drivers or power supply, its definitely not the graphics card itself, it's not the bluetooth mouse (the mouse worked completely fine back in my GeForce 210 days), i am probably completely stumbling over something but not realize it i know. the NVIDIA website says that the 9800GT is supposed to have two PCI extra power plug slots, but the XFX GeForce 9800GT doesn't meet NVIDIA's requirements, having a total of 0 power plugs and taking all its power through the motherboard. could this lack of power plugs be the problem by any unlikely chance? i want to know how to fix this soooooooo bad right now.

Try going on some tech websites.
They probably know more that the people around here.
Honestly, I haven't the slightest idea what your problem is.

Not today.
