I'm trying to play MC with my siblings on our computers, but I can't seem to connect them all. I can get two of the three connected but the third one doesn't.
If the desktop (the third computer) hosts the LAN world the other two can see it but get this error:
Failed to connect to server java.net.connectexception connection timed out: no further information
If one of the other two hosts then the third doesn't see the LAN world.
All three computers can connect to a server just fine, it's the LAN connections that seem to be messed up.
This has been very aggravating and I've tried everything I know to fix it.
Letting Minecraft and java through the firewalls
Uninstalling and reinstalling java AND Minecraft
Restarting the computer
The desktop has multiple profiles for users and the one that they play MC on isn't the admin account.
The second laptop also has multiple accounts but all are admin and all have MC on them.
Sounds like the issue is with the firewall configuration on that third computer (the desktop).
It won't let the other computers connect to it, and it won't accept the game announcements from the other computers.

So would I just allow MC through the firewall? Or do I need to make the desktop discover able or something?
It depends upon your firewall software. Minecraft needs to be allowed to accept incoming connections on sockets that it opens, and the multicast game announcements need to be passed as well if you want to see LAN games that you can then click on to connect to.
edit:
It helps if all the computers are connected to a network that is labelled as a "Home" network (not a "Public" network).

Help would be loved.
