Recently when I play Minecraft (I have a paid account, GCSterling) sometimes it lags really badly like a server with a bad host does. IDK why this keeps happening...is it happening to anyone else? I have 40-60 fps, I am playing on 1.7.2.

Hmm, I have a simliar problem but with everything I do. If I'm playing a YouTube video and say I have two other tabs open, and the most other processes I would have open are essential windows programs, steam, gamebooster, virus scanner, etc, I'd get lag spikes/freezing and during these spikes, the audio would go 'robotic', despite the fact that I have 8GB of RAM and a good processor (supposedly).
My best guess would be a problem with your processor but tech isn't my forte so... if you lower the graphic settings and render distance, would it still happen? Also, try using game booster, it probably won't do much but just for the sake of eliminating possibilities.

^I think he's referring to graphic lag, but dude if you're having lag where say, you'll destroy a block and the droppings will appear a few seconds later, or you "teleport" or slide backwards, that would be your internet/the server.

No, I rarely use Optifine, but it does it without too.
