Hello, im writing this because I need some help and maybe some of you can help me.
I recently updated to windows 8, but Minecraft isn't starting up. Whenever I try to start it, it says I need to update my pixel format but my windows driver says its updated, and I followed the link that teaches you how to fix it, followed all steps, twice, and it didn't work. ): If you help me that could be great. Here's the complete crash file:

The only time I've seen this happen is when I try to load Minecraft in Safe Mode...
Trying using the latest, latest, LATEST version of Windows. That might help.
It seems like Windows 8 installed the generic or default drivers for your video card.
I would suggest downloading the latest video drivers for your video card, and installing them.
If you are using a laptop goto your manufacture site and get the most up to date drivers for your laptop for Windows 8.
I'm here for the same exact problem, same crash report.
I have a laptop which came with Windows 7. Said windows was corrupted, and I had to buy a new version so I decided to upgrade to Windows 8 (I regret this decision every day, i swear...). Since upgrading I have not been able to get Minecraft to load.
I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series, and everything is, and has always been up to date.
This has to be a Windows problem, and frankly I'm just about ready to abandon Microsoft altogether, and switch to a Mac. :/
(ETA - I have the newest version of Windows, also.)
