i'm running windows xp, i have played minecraft before and it worked, and today(4/9/2014) it stoped working and i got this error "the registry refers to a nonexistent java runtime installation or the runtime is corrupted " so i re-installed java and when i started minecraft it does nothing and deletes both the "java.exe" and "javaw.exe" if i try to start it again i get the "the registry refers to a nonexistent..." error again, if i re-install java the files come back but when i start it(minecraft) it deletes them again, a have tried re-installing java, and minecraft, and tried re start my pc but it does not help.
