Ok so every time we try we get connection times out and that is with direct connect and witht he search for worlds in multiplayer nothing pops up even when I have my game open to LAN
Are you both hooked up to your router using an ethernet cable? That is the only way my girlfriend and I can play LAN is if we both have a cable hooked up to the router. Not sure why exactly. >>;

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of LAN? I don't even know If I HAVE an ethernet cable... But I will look into it... Wish those tutorials would mention stuff like this....
You don't have to have a cable. But there are wireless routers that by default prevent wireless clients from talking to each other.
If you can't figure out how to configure your router, switching to wires bypasses that security feature.
Getting LAN to work means you need the security settings on both computers right and the router too.

So my Friends bring their laptops or I go to them and we try to open to LAN and for some reason it does not work it won't show up for them or me.
Is there something I'm missing?
When I do it on my computer I get "Local game hosted on port" and it gives me a # like 12345.
When I watch the tutorials and look at the FAQs it says something different and gives a much longer #.
Am I doing something wrong is it my NetGear?
Is it something else?
And Why oh why do Silverfish remind me of PUPPIES of all things.... (in creative I'v never met one in survival)
Yes we are on the same IP and Router.
