My updated version of 1.7.5. minecraft has no sound. When I open minecraft nothing even comes up in my volume mixer. I have done every fix I could find on google and still no sound =(
Anyone else have this problem that could help me out?
I'm in a similar if not the same boat. No sound what-so-ever. Volume in game is up on all controls, volume works for everything else on computer, minecraft doesn't show up in my mixer (windows 7), and I'm running out of ideas.
Things I've tried from Google and the forums:
-Switching the version being used from 1.6.1 to the latest
-Pressing F3 and S keys at the same time
-Completely deleting minecraft launcher and .minecraft file and reinstalling (about 4 times now)
-Trying to find resources folder (it doesn't exist on my computer)
-creating a resources folder in .minecraft and copy/paste the sound and sounds folders from the legacy folder
-Trying to find the sound and sounds folder in the assets folder (they don't exist on my computer)
-creating the sound and sounds folder in the assets folder by copy/pasting them from the legacy folder
-Tried playing minecraft for a while in case the sound magically came back
-Accidentally downloaded malware when I accidentally clicked an add browsing more obscure forums for fixes (oops)
-Tried to interpret a youtube video about a fix that was in italian (I failed)
About my setup:
Windows 7
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
2.66GHz
8 GB RAM
32-bit system
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Nothing fancy but I've played on much worse
Interestingly, when I downloaded the older launcher through Minecraft's website it would play sound but it won't play any version newer than 1.5.2.
Does anyone know what might be going on? I'm happy to answer questions and experiment with possible fixes if anyone can help.
Enjoy raiding and pvp in highly customizable and well organized groups, but hate the setup of Factions? Then check out my upcoming server containing multiple custom plugins and opearting on Minecraft version 1.8!
McCafe? AVG? Norton? Avast? You don't have any of these programs? Antivirus is important on any Windows computer, it protects your computer from getting viruses. You may very well have a Virus in this case, and I strongly recommend that you install AVG Free Edition 2014 and run an computer scan to make sure that you do not have any viruses.I did find a thread on this website with someone who had a similar issue. You could try replicating the steps that they followed to resolve their issue: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1863776-minecraft-16-pre-releasenew-launcher-no-sound-at-all/#entry23095628

Thanks, no dice though. I do use Microsoft essentials I guess but there were no problems there. After doing these steps though I did realize that I have no sound on any version of minecraft I try to open. I'm going to try to download a different launcher to see if that works
Well I figured my sound out. I was lazily relying on auto updates and clicking the "update driver" button to make sure I had the most recent drivers for my sound card. I went to the company's website and found a driver several years newer than the one I was using. Everything works perfectly now it seems. As is usually the case with me, it is more likely user error than an actual program error.
Ok looks like I have sound with the other launcher, just no sound if I go through the new one
Try uninstalling your audio driver (Control Panel > Device Manager) then reinstall it. It appears to me that Minecraft is having issues with some form of driver judging by the error message. If you need more instructions, just let me know (provide your graphics information located in the same location as I told you earlier).

It worked fine and dandy on March 31st, and on April 1st. I even enjoyed the modded sounds.
However, starting on the 2nd, I have not had sounds and have not been able to get them to work.
I have deleted my .minecraft folder a few times. Redownloaded the installer.
My audio driver is up to date. No change in my anti-virus.
I still have no sound.
Although your driver is up-to-date, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it anyway. it is possible that a crucial component in the driver that Minecraft relies upon may have become corrupted. If that does not help, post your developmental log in the launcher upon loading up the Minecraft client. You can make the launcher remain open after clicking "Play" by going to the edit profile section and checking the appropriate checkbox and selecting the option in the dropdown to leave the launcher open.
