When I click on the mulitplayer section from the home screen, the three dots that say "scanning for games on your local network" just keep loading and loading with no end. I left it there for an hour once and it was still scanning. I have relatively good internet and play online fine with other games, so I'm guessing it's just something small. Anybody have this problem or know how to fix it? thanks

Ok you must be new, you must add a server or directly connect to one via the buttons at the bottom, to do this you must have an ip of a server you want to join. There are many servers out there so looking up minecraft servers online could help you find a good one
