Hello, I have a MacBook Air, I have updated Java to Java 8, and I've noticed when minecraft runs, where it says:
[14:02:30 INFO]: Refreshing local version list...
[14:02:30 INFO]: Minecraft Launcher 1.3.11 (through bootstrap 5) started on osx...
[14:02:30 INFO]: Current time is Mar 29, 2014 2:02:30 PM
[14:02:30 INFO]: System.getProperty('os.name') == 'Mac OS X'
[14:02:30 INFO]: System.getProperty('os.version') == '10.9.2'
[14:02:30 INFO]: System.getProperty('os.arch') == 'x86_64'
As you can see, it is using Java 7 update 65. I have Java 8 jre and jdk 8, and whenever I go to the profiles and go to advanced java settings, and I put the path of the java 8 executable, it fails to run minecraft. I want to know how to make minecraft recognize updated java. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
So I found out I was putting the wrong path to the java executable whenever I tried to change the java path. But thanks for the help, your help led me to that solution.
Ok so it worked but after quitting, the mac doesnt realize I have java, and it thinks minecraft needs java 6! I have another java program called eclipse, for java developing, and it works just fine! Anyone know how to fix this?Maybe a way to make the entire launcher use a specific java version?
