I need help. I'm trying to get minecraft set up on a new computer for my son so I can have my computer back :). I've already downloaded it and it is running. What files do I need to move to the new computer so he still has everything he has done in the game? Thanks!
If you're using Windows, then type %AppData% in the address bar of Windows Explorer (the folder system, not to be confused with Internet Explorer, the web browser). This will take you to your Roaming folder. There will be a folder in it called .minecraft. Essentially, copy the whole folder to the Roaming folder on the destination computer, and either copy or redownload the launcher along with it.
A detailed description of the .minecraft folder can be found here.
