I recently set up a new desktop which is much more powerful than my old laptop which has recently displayed the blue screen of death.
My desktop plays games my laptop could not, and plays games that my laptop could but with better graphics.
However I cannot play Minecraft on my desktop. There is so much frame lag that I cannot enjoy the experience at all. It skips consistently every second. Even on the very lowest possible graphics.
I am going to try adding optifine right now so please don't suggest that I do that. I don't think it will be enough.
My computer is obviously better than my laptop was, why can't it play Minecraft at least as good as my laptop did?

Any tips, tricks and fixes would help.
Help me, seriously.
If custom made, then post specs.
It was given to me by a friend. All I know are it has two GB of ram and its an HP with Windows 7
I figured that there must be something I can do. This computer has proven its strength over my laptop.
Minecraft instead uses your CPU and RAM to handle most of the rendering, if not all of it.
So the 2 gigs of RAM really limit it. Try turning down all of your video settings.
