This problem occurred for me while playing in snapshot 14w11b, the problem is am playing normally and doing some commands and redstone, but after a few hours of gameplay, all entities in Minecraft start to lag(like internet lag,but am in SP), mobs stop moving, sun stop moving,u can't shoot/throw anything for some time then all of sudden all what u did with entities happens at the same time then it lags again, this doesn't affect blocks i can normally break and place blocks, but all entities freeze for some time the move and freeze again. Restarting the game and launcher fixes the problem but after some hours it happens again.
dunno what's causing this problem, i never encountered it in 1.7 or any other version.
