I am using a 15 inch Macbook Pro that I bought in August of 2011. So basically when I open Minecraft it launches the initial window and it has news and stuff and I can click play, but then when I click play that window goes away and what usually happens is a second icon will appear on my dock which seems to be the "actual game" icon as opposed to just the launcher, and then the game will open. Now, the game icon will appear on the dock but the window for the game will never open. Then the only way to close it is to force quit. Also I have noticed that after I do this the rest of my computer kinda freaks out and like Chrome doesn't respond and twice I have had to manually restart my computer.
I have also been having issues with Silverlight lately (I updated it but now it won't work on Chrome or Firefox, seems to work on Safari). I am not sure if they are related or if my computer is just messed up all together but I figured I'd add that.
