So at first i was/am having the "update Launcher" problem that alot of others here have already faced. it was popping up a window for like half a second; didn't finish, then went away every time i opened the launcher. So i uninstalled everything (.minecraft, java's (multiple versions tried)) disconnected from the internet; then reinstalled everything. Lo and behold the launcher works now (well it starts up at least) even when i reconnected the internet. However minecraft crashes now before even starting the game (no menu's, no blue/black screens or anything. The crash report is as follows;

So obviously im relatively new to minecraft, im using a client made by team extreme (i dunno if that matters or not) but the same client runs on my other computer that is a non-AMD make with a little more balls than this machine but still meets all the game requirements (that i could find anyways). As i said, game runs fine on my other machine and i've never even had a hiccup of a problem over there. What am i missing guys??? what did i forget or overlook?
just to narrow things a little, heres what i've tried so far: Uninstall/re install minecraft + Launcher (multiple versions tried), uninstall/re-install java 5, 6, 7, 7. something, and 8 which im currently trying; i've tried online, offline; offline for install then online for play (which got me past the phantom "update launcher" screen) and also tried using a different directory for the install (i.e different folders) which turned out impossible because the "browse" option was grayed out and inaccessible on this computer (but not my other one) And a few other things that actually had nothing to do with minecraft at all, but focused on stupid Mcafee just in case it was blocking access of the updates running (I read that on this site)
This is my first post ever so im sorry if its a little long.(i actually joined cause you guys are the most knowledgeable and most popular forum i could find) But regardless, please help, tell me what i need/missed so i can play single player LAN, i don't even care about multi-player really as the servers seem to slow down my experience and griefers are annoying, lol.

I wouldn't expect too much though. Most likely you will still have problems because those drivers almost certainly don't have the proper level of Open GL support.
So im holding off on vanilla until i look into the vid card issue. I am trying to run this on a "Frankenstein concoction" made out of spare parts. However i do have an on board vid card witch is probably also out of date but worth a try. I followed Gerbils advice and checked out that driver link. however i get hit with a message saying; "setup was unable to find required components. make sure you........ect." So my new questions are; Will the game or the computer fight over which video driver to use? and how do i find out what brand or stats my on board vid card is/has without plugging in my monitor? (i need a driver first before it will give me a display)
Anyways guys this was helpful so far, thanks for the time. Ill have to spend some time learning what the hell the crash report is trying to tell me. Its too bad they don't have a way to translate it into plain English, i mean they have that "funny" alternating message at the very top; why cant they put something at the bottom like; "Dude, why dont you trade in your dinosaur and get a car ."
The crash report is telling you that you don't have a driver that supports Open GL (which is required!)
And your driver doesn't support Open GL because as I said before, you have the absolute basement level lowest common denominator video driver installed. "Standard VGA" dates back to the IBM PS/2 in 1987. There isn't a video card built that can't do VGA. So this driver comes with windows so that you can always see/use MS Windows and try to get out of this situation.

Right now you don't have a video driver, just the most basic "show me a screen" driver.
This card is ancient and probably doesn't have windows 7 drivers which may be why you are in this situation.
Maybe you will find "WayneDang"'s solution here to work for you: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/ati-radeon-9200-graphics-controller-driver/8747c825-704a-44b6-995f-94389f53e539
I wouldn't expect too much though. Most likely you will still have problems because those drivers almost certainly don't have the proper level of Open GL support.
