Every time I go to generate a new map, the entire map consists of only grassland, forest, extreme hills, swamp and ocean. I have tried on multiple maps to find other biomes such as desert, jungle, taiga, etc. But I can't seem to find any of these. I have tried going into creative mode and flying very far in any direction, but the listed biomes are still all I find. I can't seem to find any similar cases of this online and don't know what to do.
My game is up to date and I traveled very far. I have played this game for a while and know how far it takes to find a new biome. I redownloaded the launcher and it solved the issue, it spawned me right in the middle of a savannah.
Has nothing to do with redownloading the launcher. 1.7 worlds are made of "climate zones" of similar terrain and they're usually quite large. From a typical start in temperate terrain (like your first one) the median search distance for a "hot zone" is 5000-10000 blocks and for a "snowy zone" it's about 15,000 blocks. If you're moderately unlucky the distances can be many times that.
*Some* starts happen in hot and snowy zones. That's all that happened - you'd have had the same chance just by starting a new world without downloading. From a hot zone, it's normally not too hard to find a temperate zone, but you may have a lot of looking to find snowy (although a lot of people don't care about that).

Curse Premium*Some* starts happen in hot and snowy zones. That's all that happened - you'd have had the same chance just by starting a new world without downloading. From a hot zone, it's normally not too hard to find a temperate zone, but you may have a lot of looking to find snowy (although a lot of people don't care about that).
