I have had this problem for a very long time now. When I play minecraft the "Used Memory" section with the brackets showing the MB keeps increasing at an alarmingly fast rate and then seems to dumb into the allocated memory which goes no higher than usually 50%. When i open my task manager it will keep increasing my RAM usage until it takes up almost ALL of 16 GIGS of RAM! As this increases it affects my FPS which is a pain in my ass.

Here is what i have tried:

-Installed OMLY Java 64 bit (since i have 64 bit machine)
-Installed ONLY Java 32 bit
-Installed both Java
-Tried using Java 1.7 and 1.6 both in 32 and 64 bit
-Tried reinstalling minecraft
-Tried clean installing java
-Tried different graphics drivers including the latest one
-ran a memory diagnostic test which came up with nothing
- allocated more than 1 gig of ram to minecraft and tried using 1 gig
-Tried setting minecraft to high priority in task manager
-Turned down render settings and messing around with other settings
-I HAVE TRIED ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THE DAMN BOOK OF THIS ­

COMPUTER SPECS:

-AMD FX-8350 Eight Core Processor 4.00GHz
-16 GB DD3R RAM
-64 bit operating system (Windows 7)
- Nvidia GTX 660 2GB
- 3TB Western digital Black label
-Gigabyte Motherboard (Unsure of model)
-1000 Watt power supply
