Okay, this is a very, very weird problem I've had for a very long time. Whenever I try to play on a minecraft server, I will get disconnected fairly quickly. The error message it gives me is a bunch of standard gibberish, I suppose I could copy-paste it if that would help. However, it just starts with "connection aborted" and then devolves into tons of symbols, letters, and numbers. This bug makes playing on servers, especially pvp servers, a complete and absolute nightmare in every way possible forever. Normally I don't rage, but this bug makes me want to smash something, because I have no control over it at all. There is no consistency to it, it happens when nothing is going on, when laggy stuff is everywhere, it happens when there are tons of players on, when there are no players on, it happens even AFTER RESTARTING MY COMPUTER. Yes, that's right, that solution isn't going to work.
The only semblance of consistency is how OFTEN it happens. Some days, I can't stay on a server for more than a few minutes, while other days I can be on for 1-2 hours without a problem. It might just be my internet being a piece of junk, however, the disconnects are NOT caused by my Internet going down, as my Internet stays steady when this happens. None of the other computers in the house are usually affected, it JUST affects mine. When it does affect mine, my computer will be disconnected from the Internet for 30 seconds to a minute, then goes back to normal. It also is caused JUST by Minecraft. Nothing else will set the bug off. When I attempted to use Chrome while being affected by this bug, it gave me the "can't connect to the REAL www.google.com" error.
However, there is something more worrying that has begun happening recently: The error messages have started changing. Now, instead of the usual gibberish, I get "The connection was aborted by software in the host machine". It COULD be a virus, but I have McAfee and I make it scan fairly regularly, not to mention that I've had this bug for probably a year(yeah, maybe should have said something earlier...), so if it was a virus, surely other symptoms would have manifested at this point? One more thing, I have another bug that's been afflicting me for even longer than this one. The bug is one that makes it so that if I stay on Minecraft for longer than a few minutes(no matter what I do with that time as long as I have the window open-play singleplayer, multiplayer, even if I just idle at the title screen), when I attempt to join a server, the multiplayer screen will get stuck pinging indefinitely, and if I attempt to join the server, or refresh, or do ANYTHING besides go back, minecraft will freeze(like, can't-close-without-task-manager freeze). This has been happening ever since I updated to minecraft 1.3.
Thanks for reading, and any possible help or advice would be appreciated. The combination of these bugs is just so terrible!
HEY! THIS IS LIKE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I HAVE! Ahem.
So I'm playing minecraft, and the internet shuts down. I'm connected to the internet, but it doesn't work. If I troubleshoot it, it says that nothing is wrong although there is something wrong. It also only happens on minecraft and at random times.
It makes me wanna die. I also restarted minecraft, but nothing happens. HELP.
When was the last time you unplugged your main internet source for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Oh and if you have high bandwidth programs running (chrome, steam, etc) that's probably the problem.
