Im playing minecraft with this problem for quite awhile now. I also searched for solution but can't find any. Everytime I start my game it will defenetly freez for a second or two everytime a new sound is played or reloaded. so when I walk it would freez for a second the resume and there are multiple steping sounds for almost each block and there are allot of blocks so its so annoying to play with it. That was just the block sound, it gets more worst when with other entities like animals and, mobs, and interaction sounds like chest, water, lava, damage, death. everything cause a freez. I always die when a creeper start to do the hissss sound and freez for couple of second and freez again for the explotion sound and I can't move everytime that happens. My temporary solution is to turn off the sound but playing without it is really boring.
I also got my lagging issue but not that much. I only like minimum of 25fps which is playable for me. So i set reder distance of 7. max lighting. max fps 30. all particles. no clouds. fast graphic. I get 23-30fps(ITS BAD I KNOW) but it's already good for playing but sometimes it drops to 16fps :(. I wish there is a way to make it stable to 25-30.
But I don't think my mac that bad for minimal minecraft play. I tried minecraft in other lower units like netbook but it runs the game fine. It also doesn't give me the problem when I was still playing 1.5.2(40-50fps) considering that I doesn't have that much sounds like its recent version but the current one is freaking me out. I also thought that it was just my java version since my mac was running with 10.6.8 snow leopard before which only suport java 6 so I upgraded my mac to 10.8.5 mountain lion to update my java to v7 but still nothing changed.
I already tried allocating 2GB memory to minecraft. Even tried give all 4GB which is I know a bad idea but sill nothing change.
anyone got same problem who fixed it or anyone can help with possible permanent solution. excenpt for upgrading my mac hardware as it will be impossible for me to do it considering we dont have a apple center or even a store that sells stuff for mac in our city. And I just got this my from my sister who doesnt want to spend a penny for upgrading.
