Hey guys I have a problem with the new beta update for Minecraft 1.8, I have a late 2013 macbook pro running OSX Mavericks and the new Minecraft launcher. Due to the new launcher there is no bin folder only versions. I reinstalled Minecraft and tried creating my own bin folder and deleting the versions folder to no avail. If any of you guys know how to install the new update in my predicament please let me know. Thanks.
I don't really know where you are getting your info on new updates from, but the 1.8 update happened a few years ago. We are way past beta right now, currently in version 1.7.
Guys! He means the upcoming 1.8. And to answer your question it hasent came out yet. You can get the pre-release by going to the launcher. selecting a profile to use or making a new 1 (Create a new profile) then after it's selected press "Edit profile" and then go the the versions tab box. Press on it and select the newest snapshot Hope this helped

Yes I mean the pre-release and on my mac I have the post 1.6.1 launcher sobit uses versions and not bin so there in so bin folder to put it in.
