My friend just got minecraft. She is having this weird lettering problem and the letters are like squares. The background for the home screen is just blank and weird. The pictures for blocks and stuff just aren't there. She has not touched any options or stuff like that. If anybody has had similar problems or knows what to do please tell me!! A picture would be awesome as well. This means a lot to me and her so if you know anything let me know.
Yes, multiple people I know have said maybe it wasn't installed right or the graphics files are missing or in the wrong place. I told her to try installing it again.

That sounds like a VIA card, perhaps?
Those are very old and do not fall under Minecraft's requirements, you may wish to look at getting a new computer entirly if that is the case.
