I haven't tried minecraft Lan since 1.4 but I have updates now and Lan does not work
I have found out it's because it has been taken off and only Multiplayer Servers work instead, This really sucks cause I play MC with alot of friends on the weekends and during the weeks (pretty sure millions of other ppl used to aswell) I really wish you would put it back in cause I used to have alot of fun doing this now it Minecraft bores me alot cause I cant have as much fun without lag on a server or boringness of Single Player
This is probably about having a Windows PC
Control Panel>System & Security>"Allow A Program Through Windows Firewall"> Change Settings>Tick all "Java (SE) Platform Binary" things you see> OK.
You'll have to do this on every computer that you want to connect into a LAN game. (You might be able to get away with not doing it on the clients, but the guy hosting will definitely need to)
For some reason, LAN games work flawlessly on Macs. Like everything.
How to put up a LANserver without making a server downloaded from minecraft, net: (only works with everyone connected to the same network)
1. Windowsbutton + R
2. Type cmd
3. Click on cmd
4. Write ipconfig in the black window
5. Find what type of connection you want to use. Wireless or Wired.
6. Find the ipv4.
7. Use this with your port you get when you open it in singleplayer.
8. Type this in the serverpage (Multiplayer) Example: 123.456.789.123:55453
9. Get all your friends to type this in their multiplayer page and connect.
9. Enjoy your lan.
