I have a apple magic mouse. Right click is setup for it and works in all other applications other than minecraft. (i.e. I have it setup properly in the OS).
In fact even in minecraft when I go into options right click works. Meaning I can assign it to actions. However it will not work in the game. This is particularly annoying (that it works fine in the options menu). Also. Ctl-click does not work in game.
If I plug in a regular crappy USB of course it works no problem. I searched and was unable to find anyone with the same issue. (lots of people with it misconfigured, etc)
I'm running OSX Version 10.8.5 and Minecraft version 1.7.4
