I play Minecraft very casually and very infrequently, and one of the key reasons I play as little as I do is because I outright hate Creepers. Playing in creative mode only bores me quickly because there's no real effort involved and despite how cool it is to just be able to build things, it doesn't feel much like a game to me (which, granted, is sort of the point, but I digress).
I have never understood the internet's fascination with Creepers, or how anybody finds them endearing of entertaining. They are the exact equivalent of a generic beach bully who walks up to your sand castle, kicks it down, then laughs in your face. Not a single thing about them entertains me, and it completely ruins the experience for me; turning what should be a fun, adventurous, rewarding experience into something that needs to be fortified specific ways just to not have all your hard work immediately taken away from you while you're helpless to stop it.
My roommate and I just logged back into Minecraft tonight after getting a good, satisfying start the night prior. After a few hours, we got a simple house and farm started that both of us were genuinely happy with, and excited to expand upon.
Immediately on login, a Creeper was at our door, and exploded nearly instantly. We could not stop it from doing it.
How do I turn them off. I can't stand this anymore. Creeper mobs completely ruin an otherwise fun game that I paid decent money for, and I genuinely want them to be permanently gone from the game.
Would it be easy enough to install that as a mod? Like, just a mod that is literally "Here's vanilla, but Creepers are gone." We couldn't find a mod like that anywhere.
Alternatively, how would someone go about making that mod themselves?
It feels like everyone has a problem with a creeper except me.

Message me yours if you want to trade in Animal Crossing: New Leaf or just need some friends to play with. I can also do Pokemon trades in Pokemon X(or Y), but I don't have any good stuff, and the only good stuff I have is not for trade so...send me requests anyway.

123nart, that ended up being what we did, and the game is infinitely more stress-free now.
It isn't a matter of learning to fight them when you load the game and are immediately screwed over by one outside your house. I'm sorry to say this, but not everyone is so into Minecraft that they want to just accept all the mechanics and learn to love them. Bottom line is I just dislike them. They don't do a single thing for me. Lol.
If you still don't like them and want to get rid of them entirely (or you want mob griefing on for some other reason), try the following. Keep in mind that this only works in the 1.8 snapshots.
You'll need a few command blocks to set this up, but you can surround them in bedrock if you choose, and you'll never have to touch them again after setting them up.
1. Pause the game, click "Open to LAN", then switch on cheats and start a LAN world.
2. Give yourself a command block using "/give @p command_block".
3. Create the following configuration somewhere in the spawn chunks. (If you don't know where your spawn chunks are, stash all of your items in a chest and type "/kill", then respawn. Put this device where you respawn. If you want this contraption to be hidden, put this somewhere underground at the point where you respawn.
The command in the command block should be "/kill @e[type=Creeper]". Make sure you put the comparator on "subtraction mode" by right-clicking it.

Maybe you could have made a balcony overlooking the front part of your house that way you could have killed those dang creepers with a bow. However, I hate them too so it is cool you were able to disable their griefing ability.
