Ok, so I got my new PC functioning 100% finally (Yay!), and I decided "Why not try running Minecraft on it?"
So I went on my other PC, copied all the required Minecraft files to a 1GB USB flash drive and moved it onto my PC in the "C:\WINDOWS\.minecraft" folder. I installed Sun Java 6 update 7 on it and got that working great, so when I tried to load Minecraft for the first time, it did all the regular stuff: loaded the applet, said that Minecraft was done loading, then proceeded to open that second window that says "Minecraft needs to set up a few things", etc. That window soon went away, and I was left with the Minecraft window open, but with nothing inside of it. It was just plane black, and did nothing. Is there a way that I could actually load Minecraft on here?
Minecraft is a Java based game. Without Java, the game will only run up until that point. Assuming that you don't have Java installed yet because your PC is new, Minecraft will not run until you have downloaded a compatible version of Java.
Download Java from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
If your new PC runs a 64-bit OS, then click the 64-bit download instead of the 32-bit one for better performance.
I stated in the original topic that I have Sun Java 6 update 7 installed. I was able to run the Java games from my website on there too, so my Java is working.

I know Minecraft is Java based. I build my own computers, set up the OSes myself, and install all the drivers myself. Certainly I would have known you need Java to run a Java based game! (He says, as he is copying his Windows 98 install to try to get it to work in DOSBox.)
For some reason i find the java installer really dumb, sometimes it installs all the files and directories and such sometimes it dose not. Try unistalling all versions of java restart your PC and install them again. Make sure it is the right version of java (32, Or 64 bit). Hope that helps.

It still hasn't worked. I re-installed Java 6 update 7, three times, then proceeded to try Java 5 update 4, and when that didn't work, Java 6 original release. My Minecraft just stays at a black screen. I have tried 1.5, 1.4.7, beta 1.8, and alpha 1.2. None of those worked.
What is the minimum version of Java that Minecraft will run on? Isn't Java 6 acceptable?
I tried the new launcher today. Every time I tried to launch the game, it would do that loading bar thing across the bottom, then go back to the launcher. It never once opened a second Window. Do you think I could get one of the earlier versions of Minecraft to run ex. pre-alpha 2.4? In theory it should work, no? The launcher loads properly, and the Java is working fine. Is it maybe my drivers that are outdated? Do you need more info about my system to find how to fix it ex. OS, specs, Opengl version etc.? I would be very happy if we could find a solution.

At least 86% of what I say is always correct.

I thought that this was the support section of the forum, because I'm not getting much support here.
