I'm on an iMac version 10.7.5 with a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo graphic card, and 4 GB of RAM. My FPS are averaging at about 25, with some lag spikes around 12. How can I increase it? For some reason my FPS are much worse in Multiplayer, which, sadly is where I play most. Is there an easy way to get more? I have all the video settings stuff set the right way (Except for render distance, but when I set it to low it doesn't really do much)
If you don't have it, smooth lighting effects your FPS quite a bit.
Since your graphics card doesn't look too great.
Set EVERYTHING to it's lowest.
Then slowly increase each setting until it's at a playable state.

I was wondering about my graphic card...my iMac's old. Mostly everything is low, it doesn't seem to be doing too much. Do you know how to allocate more RAM to Minecraft? I forgot to add that to the topic.
Thanks in advance! (Am I on the right topic?)

PC's aren't really my thing, and I don't have the money.
I just installed Optfine though, and MAN, does it work!!! (I would recommend it, even if your computer is awesome, it's updated to 1.7.4)
