I used the website to add a skin and now every time i go to play the game is either a black screen with the cross hairs and the mouse. i cannot move if i press escape it crashes

Sometimes, It just takes time for the game to load up. It happened to me the first time I opened my game up. It was a black screen with just the crosshair, and after a minute or so, the terrain started loading up and generating. Also, try turning down your settings. Turn your smooth lighting to either minimum or off, turn your graphics from fancy to fast (unless you have a good computer that can run fancy graphics), and turn your render distance down a few chunks.You can also try turning bobbing off and clouds off. All of these settings can be found by clicking the "Video Settings..." button once the game is paused.
If all else fails, try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. Or just not using a skin.
