Hey guys, I'm currently on Minecraft 14w05b. When I tried to downgraded into 1.7.4. to play SMP. It deleted every item in my single player world. It only deleted item like tools, foods, resources. But there still building, chest. Any suggestion. I really need help to get my world back to play 1.7.4. Appreciated
The new snapshot changed the item data values or something. So downgrading to 1.7.4 made it so the game couldn't recognize your items, and subsequently deleted them.
You could either...
a ) load a recent backup of the world if you have one
b ) use Creative to spawn the items you can remember back into your game
Sorry about that, dude. In the future, always make a backup of your world before using the snapshots.
Unfortunately, all you can do is open to LAN to enable cheats and give yourself your items back because they changed the save format for items so that instead of numeric IDs they now use strings; when 1.7.4 attempts to read them, it can't recognize and simply removes them.
BTW, never try loading a 1.8 world into 1.6.4 or earlier; I did this (as a test!) and it actually crashed the game and destroyed the world (level.dat was deleted, along with level.dat_old, which can otherwise be used as a backup; when I created a world using the same name and seed, I got the world back but it was filled with chunk errors)

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

Retired StaffIt was explained earlier that, that would not be possible.
