Hello all,
After i installed AMD Catalyst 14.1 in my Sapphire R9 280x Vapor-X i am not able to play Minecraft anymore.
Here is how it looks like now: http://cl.ly/image/1U122D0x3o1o
I wonder if it's because of that or any other problem someone stumbled upon already.
Just to be clear, i play online usually, but that's a singleplayer screenshot, and also i have no texture packs or mods installed, my minecraft is fresh clean.
Also tried uninstalling minecraft, removing manually .minecraft folder, deleting the .exe file and still get the same problem with a fresh install.
Does anyone have any idea of what may be happening?
Thank you very much
Edit: Oh yeah, those shadows are pigs, the UI is fully working as intended, like the inventory and everything else. It seems like some problem with textures.
I was having a similar problem too, but I did find a solution. By copying the following files to the C:\Windows\System32\ directory (and the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ if you run a 64-bit version of Windows 7/8), the game will work fine. By doing this, you are simply using the renderer from the 13.12 edition of the drivers, and IT DOES NOT DISABLE MANTLE! Also, you need to be running a version of Windows 7 or Windows 8. But please do not do this if you don't feel comfortable doing so, and don't forget to back up the previous files in those directories!
Also, I would suggest everybody to submit the original issue here. This is the official AMD issue submitting forum, and the more people that do it, the faster it will get fixed.
For those wondering, I got the information from here. (It's another forum, but I'm not here to advertise. It's just where I learned about this fix)

Done.
I too would advise everyone having this issue to also submit it there. There is surely going to be a higher chance of a fix arriving in the next release (however long that may take) when a higher proportion of their customers complain about it.
just place the 2 files (atio6axx.dll and atioglxx.dll) found here AMD Minecraft Fix files into the following folder depending on your system no need to edit your system core files. it worked for me
Windows 64x C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin
Windows 86x C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin

Not sure if you ment placing it in to both folders, but that's what made it work for me.
Thank you

WORKED FOR ME, I hope AMD still puts a fix in the next version anyway, but thanks for the help, I can record again!
I would actually question the integrity of those 2 DLL's. Surely their MD5 checksums would produce at least 1 result on Google? Nope.
As I already had version 13.12 installed with the installation stuff still in C:\Drivers\AMD (will be C:\AMD for you probably) I took those 2 OpenGL drivers from there instead. You will need to expand them first though via the command prompt. (This isn't exactly simple of you're not at a power user level of technical experience)
The steps are:
Open a command prompt in administrator mode(Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> Command prompt OR put "cmd" in the search box and it'll appear -- make sure you right click it and select Run as Administrator)
Submit command: CD \AMD\Support\13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql\Packages\Drivers\Display\WB6A_INF\B165829
Submit command: expand atioglxx.dl_ "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\atioglxx.dll" -- if you are running 32-bit Java on a 64-bit edition of Windows make sure you use "Program Files (x86)" for this one, as this is a 32-bit binary
Submit command: expand atio6axx.dl_ "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\atio6axx.dll" -- not needed on 32-bit editions of Windows as it is a 64-bit library
You're done. Only Java's runtime environment will use these older GL drivers.

Check if you're running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows by holding Windows+Pause (or right click My Computer then select Properties).
If you're running 32-bit Windows then just "Program Files".
If you're running 64-bit Windows:
32-bit Java? "Program Files (x86)"
64-bit Java? "Program Files"
Check by putting "java -version" in the command prompt. You'll get a reply like this:
I have a question. Will amd update those drivers or propose a newer version ?
I'm not pressed to play minecraft and can wait until if an update will come out, and I don't want to touch that files ..
