I want to play on a LAN server with my dad. We are using the same Wi-Fi network. He can open the LAN fine and it appears on my multiplayer, but when I try to join it always gives me the same error after attempting to connect for a minute or two: "io.netty.channel.ConnectTimeoutException: connection timed out: /10.0.0.6:50687"

There may be a firewall in place, make sure that you are not running any.
That 10.0.0.1 subnet is rather not commonly used by personal routers, what router model are you using?
