I got on multiplayer yesterday and when I got off a server and got on another I couldn't see anyone's skins including mine. I am running vanilla 1.7.4. How do I fix this?
We'll need to see your development console when you join a server and skins aren't appearing. Firstly, you need to set the launcher to stay open. To make sure the launcher stays open: click Edit Profile, then check Launcher Visibility, select Keep Launcher Open and finally hit Save Profile.
Once you've done that, click 'Play' and join a server of your choice. If skins aren't appearing, then provide the contents of your development console, which can be found on the second tab of the launcher.
First, copy all of the text: right-click on the text, then click 'Copy All Text'. Finally, paste it in spoiler tags in a reply for us to see.

However, if you can see skins once again, it's safe to assume skins were down at the time you joined the server.
You may have a problem with your hosts file, which overrides DNS queries. Please follow the following directions:
Press Win+R. In the window that appears, enter %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc, and press Enter. In the window that appears you will see a file, 'hosts'. Open that file in Notepad, and copy the contents into spoiler tags in a reply.
