So today I went to re-download Minecraft on my new Windows 8.1 OS, (we wiped it when installing the new OS), and after downloading it, the new launcher came up and said,

Unable to download remote file. Check your internet connection/proxy settings.


But afterwards it said it reversed and packed the launcher.pack.lzma and started the launcher, so when I opened it, it flashed the original launcher with the large "Play" button on the bottom, but then took me straight to the Log-In page. After entering my information it said "Sorry but we couldn't connect to our servers", so I checked the Mojang servers and they were all up. After re-entering my info about 4 times it took me to a page saying either my username or password was wrong, which was false, because my username and pass worked on minecraft.net, so after re-entering yet ANOTHER time, it gave me the "Sorry we couldn't connect to our servers" again. Can someone PLEASE help me with this??? I reaaly want to play Minecraft and I've been trying to fix this for about 6 hours, and I've looked on dozens of forums, with no solution. PLEASE GUYS I really need a fix for this.

I can't find a way to show the log here as there's no way to copy-paste it from the launcher, and it disappears after like 5 seconds.

Did that, and it's giving me the same error.
