***Before I start listing what's wrong, I swear to god if I hear any "It's not Minecraft it's your computer" in the replies, I'll flip a table :/ ***
Alright, so to start off, I'd like to say that Minecraft has broken my computer. Just so you know, my computer is ~6~ months old, and when I bought it it was new. It has 8 gigs of ram, and 750 GB of memory.
So, to get to the point, Minecraft has broken my computer. At this point in time, I can't even "download and play minecraft 1.7.2" because of how broken it is. Yesterday, I reset my windows 8 laptop to factory settings. By doing this, I completely reset every file on my computer, and kept very few of them on my USB key (These files I saved were videos, notepad documents, and a few more things like so) I had to reset my computer hoping it would fix the issue I was having. The issue I was having would make my computer shut off if minecraft had been open for around 15 minutes. So, in other words, my computer would work for an ENTIRE day, and then once I open Minecraft, it would shut off 15 minutes later. I will not accept a reply that says "Minecraft is overheating your computer" Because that's not what's happening. In order to play Minecraft for LONGER then 15 minutes, I would have to delete my .minecraft folder, delete ALL versions on minecraft on my computer, and then redownload it. Recently (2 days ago) I have not been able to delete the .minecraft folder, as it would turn off my computer nonetheless.
I own a Minecraft server that gains around 30-40 players at a time. Without me there, it will eventually crumble. I need help fixing my minecraft so I can get back to my usual schedule. I have debated returning my computer to where I bought it, and having it checked and hopefully replaced, but it's inconvenient, and so I'm posting here. Minecraft has broken on my computer before. To fix it, all I had to do was reset my computer, and it would last around 2-3 months without breaking again. This time, however, resetting my computer is not fixing the problem.
Just to recap:
-Minecraft shuts off my computer after a short amount of time after it's opened
-I can't click "Download and play Minecraft 1.7.2" after I reset my computer.
-Every 2-3 months, minecraft becomes completely unusable and to fix it, I had to reset my computer
I doubt it, but if anyone has had this problem before, tell me what you did to fix it?!? I REALLY don't want to exchange computers for something that I could fix. Thanks for reading,
Please enlighten us about how you have gone about confirming that this was not the cause.
Since deleting my .minecraft fixes the problem, what turns off the computer obviously is lying in there. Also, it's a new computer, that only ever had problems running minecraft, whereas it can play all other games

Hi,
What turns off your computer is overheating.
Your system may not be able to handle the load, certain parts of your computer reach points at which they are overwhelmed, and forcefully shut it down to preserve the computer.
Resetting your .minecraft clears settings to default, one of those settings, could possibly be to blame, it would make sense if you set the render to maximum it will infact take a bite on your computer's performance, or any similar setting.
It does not matter if the issue happens throughout all games, as all games are different, and will access memory differently.
The fact that it happens in the first place could be a hardware issue, so please give us a DxDiag log.

Hello. I am on the forum with my own problem, just perusing the entrys, I am not a knowledgeable techie, but I do have a thing or two to say.
The report you published, says enable wake up option (no spaces) Is your computer just falling asleep? I have this problem once in a while, just messing around with energy saving and screen shows. Wouldn't it be nice if that was all it was? Under energy options you need to put never fall asleep on the advanced options. There might be different profiles, for theater, gaming or energy saving.
The next thing is a little problematical. I like to be nicey, nicey, but sometimes it is silly. What I am referring to is obvious computer tampering. My first computer in 2006 was supposed to be a new notebook. But apparently the installation disk was tricked up.There were many indicators of this. For up to 2 years the computer would crash monthly. I tried various cures. Each time I reinstalled the operating system I would experiment with different permissions. Some worked really well, I could tell because the computer wouldn't be hijacked for two months instead of one.
Secondly, computer operating systems are made to resemble a house of cards built on a great big sponge. Considering all, your computer is doing a lot of work and I agree with you it most likely is not overheating. I'm just saying it looks like a big boy and the refrain "your computer isn't big enough" is so close to locker room put downs I can't stand it.
I'm not a tech, but I do have a sense when I'm being jived. I've found files open that I didn't open, registry changes i didn't elect, and programming changes I didn't make. Perhaps this has happened to you also. I found computer shares where people had written nearly profane sounding permissions for themselves to access my computer. Apparently the idea was to create as much loss of personal confidence and emotional dysfunction as 'they' could. The most hilarious event was when someone accessed my wireless to make a phone call and I could hear the voice on the computer speaker. I don't think I'm any stupider than any one else, its just that I made myself aware of why things were happening. Like why the computer slows down. Like, why should your energy settings suddenly change a month or two after initiating defaults? Or, how about this, why the security program you may have registered isn't recognized by the company that manufactured it supposedly, or why the registration program is still on the task bar and actually a back door to Dark something or other. It's a supposed security company, but most likely pirate hijack ware as well. I found that out when I dug through its files and noticed a picture in it was a link.
Sooooooo. I just thought that a little confirmation was better than size ridicule. They tried that on me too. Whatever you want to fall for.
1.Check your energy settings thoroughly.
2.Check your permissions. The files sharing permissions are what really need to be studied.
3.Look for bogus programs. It almost sounds like an inserted file that tells the computer to shut down.
4.You could try masking your ip
5.There are many ways to get into your computer. I haven't given up, but sometimes its just better if REAL piracy is the problem, to burn the hard drive. Better yet, if you need an upgrade get a new one. Some things don't even burn off. But you don't need two dozen hard drives laying around and that might not be necessary.
I did all that, but no luck... My computer seems to be working fine with EVERYTHING but Minecraft, which is inconvenient because it's my main use for my computer.... Thanks anyways, though. I appreciate it :/

If I'm totally wrong, sorry. Good Luck
