i just wanted to add that those are mushrooms!
You need to install all available Software Updates available for your Mac.
To do so, click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen, and click Software Update. Continue to install updates until there are none.

I just checked and it said there are no new updates. I also just downloaded TF2 and a similar problem occurred so I think this is a graphics error for the entire computer.
