Since 1.7, I have been having some issues with lag. While I am playing minecraft, I will get a lag spike that makes the game almost unplayable that lasts for about three minutes, then subsides. I can then play without lag for about five minutes, until the lag comes back again. This issue also occurs on other games, such as roblox, star wars battlefront 2 and realm of the mad god. This has me wondering about whether or not the lag originated in minecraft, but since it started when I updated to 1.7, I have no other leads about its source. One more detail: During the lag spike, I can turn the render distance down to two, turn graphics to fast and smooth lighting off, and still suffer unbearable lag. Also during the spike, I have noticed that my fps increases when I look away from large structures or areas of terrain( if I am above ground and look at the sky, my fps increases, and if I'm near bedrock and I look at the ground, my fps also increases). This leads me to believe that it has to do with the changes in 1.7 to the world generator, but does not explain why it affects other games. Here are my system specs:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Manufacturer: Lenovo
Model: lenovo windows 7 PC
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core
CPU E5700 @
3.00 GHz 3.00 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System
Please Help!
What is your graphics card/GPU? Have you tried reinstalling Minecraft? Have you tried OptiFine?
Could you also do a DXDiag and post the info? (Google how to do that if you don't know how).
I have not tried either of the things you suggested, but I plan to.
As for the DirectX Diagnostics report, I do not have directX, So I went and downloaded the Setup. When It starts installing, A window pops up that says: An internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine the problem.
When I try to find these folders, there is nothing there. I can't find it anywhere. Not even in roaming. Zip. Zero.
By the way, thank you for addressing my problem in the first place.P.S. Whenever I look up ways to find my GPU, It tells me to download DirectX. O_o

Curse PremiumHave you tried running a DxDiag anyway? And the "Windows" folders it's referencing to is probably C:\Windows.
...
Wait, a 64-Bit OS on a Pentium? Good luck getting anything to work there.
I tried optifine and reinstalling minecraft, neither helped.
