:Yes, sounds like something is blocking minecraft from accessing the servers. That, or they're just down for maintenance. Try disabling antivirus and firewall, and try again. If that fails, then wait a few hours for the servers to come back up. They've been having trouble lately.

Thanks. I knew it wasn't maintenance because I could log on fine on other computers. I turned off the firewall and could get it fine, turned it back on and couldn't get in. I updated my recently expired antivirus and now I can get back on!

When I click on MC icon screen, launcher opens with Welcome and user iD and "play offline" is the only option.
My month of free McAfee expired and I read someone say in an old similar post it could be a firewall issue. Could this be the cause?
ANy other thoughts???
