When I try to move it, it says " The action can't be completed because the file is opened in Java(TM) Platform SE binary. Close the file and try again". This is the first time I posted here so please if I did anything wrong then inform me.
When your dragging it, you are moving the file, not copying it. To make a shortcut, do the fallowing:
1) Right click on the Minecraft icon, and select "Copy".
2) Go to your desktop, right click and select "Paste shortcut"
3) Rename the shortcut "Minecraft", and your done!
