So i was (again) trying to launch minecraft 1.7.4+ with my oldish computer. The thing is that it SAYS that i have opengl 2.0. I've updated my video drivers and still its too old. But i was messing around GPU Caps viewer
( http://www.ozone3d.n...pu_caps_viewer/ ) And found that if a run a quick opengl 2.1 test with in it would work. So does that mean that i have opengl 2.1? or not. Please help, any feedback would be much appreciated.
Though if you really have trouble running the game, you can assume you do not have, or have partial support for a certain OpenGL version. I would recommend just getting a newer computer rather than searching for a lost cause.
Currently, as of 1.7.4, Minecraft still requires only OpenGL 1.2 but in version 1.8 or 1.9 it will require OpenGL 2.0 and warns you in the launcher as such. The difference between 2.0 and 2.1 is very small and can vary between drivers. Regardless, you should at least have 2.0 support and thats all you need in the future. As for now, we need to know what OS and graphics card you have via DxDiag to provide the right drivers.
