I've had absolutely no issues with any previous versions. I can run 1.7.2 and anything older without problems. My game is not modded at all.
As soon as I load 1.7.4, even on the menu screen, I get less than 1 FPS. I've lowered my video settings across the board, no success. I updated Java and my video card drivers as well. If i go back and load 1.7.2, it runs like a charm.

Do you have a good RAM storage? That might be the problem.
