As I've not seen my issue in any other thread I think I'll throw it out.
My problem is that when I'm in my multi player server I've gotten serious latency and frame rate problems. While at first I attributed this to an Iron genorator recently built in the area, this seems not to be the problem as the owner has since removed the iron genorator. The issue seems to occure in an area and once in that area there is no way to get out of it but for something to kill me and then wait for the game to respond long enough to recognize that I've hit respawn.
I have reinstalled java, minecraft, the iron generator has been taken down and there is no active redstone anything at all. Also to make it very clear as to just how much of an issue I'm having, I will take one in game step, freeze, minecraft will stop resonding (Coupled with the faded screen that states "Not responding") and then resume after about 5 seconds with another frame. Rinse repeat.
In single player the world has that bug where you see through the ground untill you go up to it for the entier length of play (Played for 2 hours with it, the world never fully loaded).
I don't know what the problem is but it seems to be efecting many of those that are in my server in server and out. Hope you guys know something, I would like to keep playing.
If what you've described is accurate, the worlds you are in, the server world included, may have a corrupted chunk, or corrupted entities. Of course, you would have to ask the server owner to fix the error for the server.
If a world got corrupted you can try to repair it with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit.
To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.
Thanks, I'll try that. We found taht another large issue was pockets underground where have been spawning chickens and zombies. So.. over the last week we've cleared out about 40-60 zombies that have not been de-spawning at all. As we find pockets like this the lag goes down and the spots start becoming less intense. I'll see if that helps too.
