I have a LAN world running on Windows 8 box with two other Windows 8 boxes connecting to it. All are using 32-bit java. Two issues:
1) There are certain spots in the world where lag becomes ridiculous. CPU usages goes to 100% on the server and everyone lags. Can't find anything unusual about those spots. As long as no one is in these areas, the game runs perfectly without lag. To see if I could fix this, I wanted to increase memory usage to over 1GB, so I upgraded the server to start up using 64-bit java.
2) Now if I start the server with the 64-bit java exe, the other boxes can see the LAN world normally but get a connection exception when they try to connect. Even if the boxes themselves start the clients with 64-bit java.
Would love to know why either one of these is happening and how to fix.
