I have been playing Minecraft on my Mac since about mid-2012. I played it at least 5 days a week for about a year, and then I (having dealt with my fair share of crashes and freezes) became fed up and stopped playing until about a week ago, when my friend reintroduced me to it. I cautiously began playing Multiplayer, etc, without crashing in any way, except for the occasional 1-second freeze. But today, I encountered a problem. I opened my Singleplayer world, flew over some trees & mountains etc, but then I had a whole string of 1-second freezes. I dismissed this and continued playing until bam, it froze. I could move my cursor and the clock in my menu bar updated about every half minute, but other than that, it was frozen. I pressed [esc] and about a minute later the pause screen came up. I clicked on "save and quit to title" and after another minute the game recognized this and brought me out, whence I quit immediately. I would like to know the cause of this and how to fix it.
