Well, hi guys! I played the demo to minecraft and loved it, immediately bought after a couple days of toying around. I got into the game after uninstalling the demo and making sure I didn't have any lingering files, and loaded up my first world. Turns out, it happened to be an island world with three trees or something so I deleted that and loaded up a second world which was nothing but trees and some hills. I decided I liked it, so I started on the nearest tree to start on my tools.
That's when the weirdness started. This is a single player game, so I know it isn't something to do with a multiplayer server, but I've been in this game for fifteen minutes already and every time I destroy a block it immediately regenerates without a drop, then stays there for three seconds or so, disappears, then drops the item (wood and stone so far) before I can start on the next part of the tree or stone deposit. I thought that it was just new world lag or something, so I went on with life for five minutes or so and got upset when it didn't fix itself. It didn't even get better. I have a feeling that it isn't my specs causing in game lag or whatever this is, but I can run Battlefield 3 on decent settings so that's why the hesitation on that part.
What I'm asking is if anybody knows if it's just really bad lag that's lasted a bit longer than usual, if I got a bad install, if my computer is possessed by a bad ghost, just any helpful tips. Thank you for any help!
If your world got corrupted you can try to repair it with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit.
To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.
