I have a good laptop that I recently bought that has been running Minecraft very well (90-120 FPS normally).
Lately, however, it has not been running well. It has been going at about 30 FPS and huge lagspikes with rain.
PC Specs:
Asus
Intel Core i7-4500UCPU @1.80 GHz 2.40GHz
RAM: 8 GB
64 Bit Windows 8.1
Touch Screen
NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M
Yes, I do have it set that Minecraft runs on the "High Performance nVidia Processor"
I also tried setting the priority to "high" in the task manager.
On the world I just created, it looks ok (100 FPS)
Then I went onto an older world (a redstone world) and it seemed fine, and then I went onto another world and it was down to 40 FPS.
I just don't know why it started happening randomly....
