Lately I have been getting low fps on minecraft 1.7.4, is there anything i need to upgrade or how do i fix it?

Lag in 1.7.4 could be attributed to Chicken Jockeys spawning and dropping eggs which zombies pick up and then lose the ability to despawn, permanently alive and causing lag, not to mention, the chickens create lag and the entities they drop do as well. This is a continuos problem and more and more zombies pick up eggs and it multiplies into a lag disaster. I believe that Dinnerbone is aware of the issue and will fix it in the next Minecraft update (possibly removing the picking up of items from other entities, or zombie jockeys not dropping eggs, or zombie jockeys and chickens despawning together). This may be your problem.
